梁博士的專業領域，在於從跨文化的角度研究健康軌跡，生活品質，和老年照護。他目前的研 究重點是個人與人口層面的生活品質，中老年健康和衛生保健的動態模型，以及老年照護管理 和政策的比較分析。

l 自 述:

Jersey Liang received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the National Taipei University in 1969.  He subsequently was awarded a doctoral degree in sociology from Wayne State University in Michigan with a specialization in gerontology in 1977.  He was a research scientist at the Institute of Gerontology at Wayne State University before he joined the faculty at University of Michigan Institute of Gerontology and School of Public Health in 1985.  Jersey Liang is currently a professor of health management and policy and a research professor of gerontology respectively at the School of Public Health and Institute of Gerontology at the University of Michigan.  Liang served as the Editor for Social Science for the Journal of Gerontology, and he has been a member of several editorial boards for gerontological journals and study sections for the U.S. National Institutes of Health.  He received the MERIT award from the U.S. National Institute on Aging in 1987 and 1998.  His research interests have evolved around comparative studies of aging and health in the United States and East Asian countries such as Japan, China, and Taiwan.  Liang’s recent studies include racial/ethnic variations in the trajectories of health and well-being in old age in the U.S. and living arrangements among older adults in the U.S. and Japan.

l 特殊表現及事蹟：

ü 1976到1987年間連獲多項文學獎項：1976年文豪小說獎、1979年時報文學獎、1980、1982、1983、1984年吳濁流文學獎、1987年聯合文學小說新人獎

ü   小說、詩、散文著作豐富。其小說以社會學家犀利的眼光，透視臺灣社會已發生或即將發生的種種危機，故時而有歡笑悲傷的親情，時而有愛慾掙扎、纏綿悱惻的戀情，同時他的小說也見證了臺灣社會的變遷中，城鄉衝突與倫理的迷失，並強調本土歷史文化的自尊。小說內容銳利深刻，描寫人物內心世界細膩感人，擅長以電影手法處理小說場景，且有強烈的歷史感覺和濃厚的人道關懷。主要著作有：《放鷹》、《秋菊》、《春秋茶室》、《台灣無用人》、《妻的容顏》、《生態禪》、《青春三部曲：閣樓‧春秋茶室‧秋菊》、《一隻鳥的故事》、《生命HIKING》、《生之曼陀羅》、《流沙之坑》等書。其中《秋菊》與《春秋茶室》曾被改編成電影《青春無悔》，《青春三部曲》一書則被改編成客家電視劇《煙田少年》，並有多部小說被翻譯成英文、德文、日文、越南文等。

ü   致力於原住民文化的傳承與傳播，曾編輯《原舞者：一個原住民舞團的成長紀錄》、《願嫁山地郎》、《悲情的山林》等書。

ü   於報社工作期間除擔任社論主筆外，同時也出版多本政論文集，針砭時事。其代表著作有《打開天窗說亮話》、《吳錦發集》等書。

ü   於擔任文建會副主任委員其間積極策劃「青春無悔．民主有價」人權文化系列並進行人權紀念園區的規劃。於任內接手「綠島人權紀念園區」，進行全園區的整體規劃、歷史建築調查研究與修復、遺址與第二期文史資料調查等工作。此外，其任內亦接手「景美人權文化園區」並與「彭明敏文教基金會」合作舉辦開園活動「人權感恩嘉年華」。之後，兩個人權園區皆納入國家人權博物館籌備處，成為台灣簽署人權兩公約後的重要文化與歷史的資產。

ü 2009年至2014其間主持電台節目《發哥開講》，內容以引介評論文學作品、科學新知以及文化時事評論為主。並於這段期間出版三片合集CD。

ü   積極推廣屏東在地文化，如「眷村榕樹爺爺告別音樂會」、「恆春千人合奏月琴」等。
