Since the end of the broadcast of "Lollipop" in 2009, Taiwan's local idol culture has seen various talent shows and idol groups being launched. However, due to globalization, the rise of South Korean pop culture's soft power, and the inability to compete with the significant financial backing of Chinese productions, the Taiwanese idol industry has been unable to return to the glory days of the Little Tigers, F4, 5566, Comic Boyz, Fahrenheit, and Lollipop. Yet, "Atom Boyz" has overturned the prolonged downturn in Taiwan's idol culture, causing a sensation even before the show finished airing. It has challenged the public's skepticism and preconceived notions about Taiwan's idol culture, achieving international fame before debuting. Moreover, it has broken the stereotype that Taiwan's idol audiences are limited to young females, as seen from the presence of older fans and male fans at various events, resulting in a phenomenon where fans span different ages and genders.

Past research on Taiwan's idol culture has primarily focused on fans of foreign idols or institutional innovations in programs, with little attention given to local idols and their fans. This gap has prompted the present study, which centers on "fans" using qualitative research methods. These include "semi-structured interviews" for in-depth interviews and "field observations" for ethnographic studies, aiming to explore the context behind this phenomenon.
