Work values influence a person's commitment to work and their views on social mobility and fair opportunities. After the year 2000, the Taiwanese people were faced with the social structure caused by changes in the technological era, changes in the economic environment, and the spread of higher education. Does the Taiwanese spirit of "You will win if you love to work hard" still exist? And in the face of a solidified social structure, do highly educated people have greater confidence that they can break through the class wall of the "rich-poor gap" through personal efforts and other factors? Faced with the unequal demands for time, effort and expectations among young workers, are they "living flat" as the media said and losing confidence in social mobility? Our study which selects the data from three periods of comprehensive questionnaires in 2000, 2010 and 2020 is from Basic Survey on Social Change in Taiwan. The purpose is to study the changing trends after 2000 of the work values for Taiwanese people who will succeed through hard work and their attitude towards the gap between rich and poor. The study found that judging from the changes in the timeline of the 20 years after 2000, Taiwanese people's personal belief trend in "success can be achieved by enduring hardship" is gradually weakening over time. Among them, those with lower education levels, young people and women are more likely to agree with the fighting spirit of "If you work hard, you will win." Those whose education level is below junior high school are even more convinced. Overall, more than 60% of Taiwanese people believe that the solidified gap between rich and poor cannot be overcome with hard work, and do not agree that hard work can break through the boundaries of wealth. However, those with higher education levels, younger people and those with higher incomes believe that hard work can break the gap between rich and poor, and they still believe that there are opportunities for class mobility. The young people under the age of 29 have always believed that hard work can break the gap between the rich and the poor. The data results break the media public opinion framework's "flattering" label on the young class. In addition, Taiwanese women hold the inner belief that "you can succeed if you endure hardship" more than men, and there is a significant difference.
