社會賦予女人必需進入婚姻、生兒育女的責任,然而女人一旦遵循這樣的軌跡,進入家庭之後,往往成為權力劣勢的一方,當家庭生命週期到了養育幼兒階段時,面臨新生兒的加入,衍生許多家務工作。家庭與職場的兩難,讓申請育嬰留職停薪成為一個解決問題的選項之一,有哪些因素影響最後的抉擇,是本研究探究的目的。 本研究採質性研究,深入訪談13位符合申請育嬰留職停薪資格的國中女性教師。以她們的申請意願及請假的結果分為三種類型:「務實型」、「理想型」、「折衷型」。 企圖應用相對資源論、Nancy J. Chodorow的母職再生產及Sharon Hays的密集母職等觀點,進行分析與解釋。研究結果呈現影響因素有經濟因素、支持系統、職務狀況考量、母職實踐的觀念…等。幼年由母親專職照顧的女性,較具備母職取向。幼年非由母親專職照顧的女性,則較放心將孩子委由他人照顧。另外,即使夫妻資源相當,當有育兒需求時,女性總是選擇犧牲投入無酬的照顧工作。 希望藉由本研究,以女性為本位,重新思考家務分工的合理性,期待親職工作由家庭成員共擔,家務平權。

Taiwanese society tends to impose the responsibility of entering marriage and raising children on women. Once women follow the traditional path into marriage, they are almost doomed to be the dominated party in the relationships. when the famiy life cycle moves onto the stage when newborn babies require a continuous attention from parents, a wide range of chores also come along. The difficulties to spend time on both work and family make parental leave one of the remedies for parents. The purpose of this thesis is to point out the factors that affect a parent’s decision on taking leave. This is a qualitative research based on real experiences. The author holds in-depth interviews with 13 female junior high school teachers who qualifies for parental leaves. Based on the will to apply and the result of the applications, the interviewees could be categorized into 3 types, the Pragmatism, the Idealism, and the Eclecticism. The author attempts to apply Relative Resource Approach, the Reproduction of Mothering Theory of Nancy J. Chodorow and intensive mothering of Sharon Hays to her analysis and interpretation. The finding s of her research reveals that financial concerns, supporting systems, career concerns, a mother’s sense of responsibility, and etc., are all factors that could influence the interviewees’ decision on taking parental leave. Women that were taken care of solely by their mothers tend to show better mothering than others; those who were not solely taken care of by their mothers embrace the idea of outsourcing parenting tasks. In addition, even a wife and her husband respectively possess equal resource, the wife always devotes herself in the unpaid parenting tasks whenever there’s a need for a babysitter. The author expects the society to reconsider the rationale of housework allocation on a woman-centered basis in order to reach gender equality in the home by shared responsibilities.
