Over the past more than six years since the implementation of the new system of adoption, some unexpected problems have arisen. Although the protection form of children’s human rights and welfare in Taiwan has become more complete as far as the law is concerned, what exactly is the performance of protection of children’s human rights in Taiwan? The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of this amended system of adoption on multiple actors from the perspective and framework of Merton’s functionalism analysis.
