本研究主要目的是探討居住安排、經濟獨立性對生活滿意度之影響。有別於以往許多老人居住安排的文獻對於居住安排僅概分為「老人獨居」或「與子女同住」二類，本文重新定義「居住安排」的分類模式，進一步探討老人獨居面貌為老人真正獨居或與配偶同住，且依子女婚姻狀況及性別區分與子女同住之居住安排類型。研究發現在ANOVA檢定分析中，只與配偶同住的獨居老人生活滿意度高於任何與子女同住模式生活滿意度。顯見過去研究將「自己獨居」與「只與配偶同住」均歸類為獨居，在生活滿意度的探討上是有討論空間的。
經濟獨立性對老人生活滿意度的影響方面，分析結果發現，具有生活開支能力、將來養老能力者，對於老人生活滿意度具有顯著影響，而是否為主要經濟來源、具有經濟決策權、住宅所有權對生活滿意度的影響則不顯著。

This study focused on two factors that may affect the life satisfaction of elderly people in Taiwan-living arrangements and ownership and control of economic resources. Based on data from “2011Taiwan Longitudinal Study on Aging”, this thesis shows that while living with spouse or children, as compared to living alone without spouse, has a positive impact on elders’ self-evaluation of life satisfaction, having enough economic resources to cover current and future living expenditures have even a greater positive effect. It is suggested that ensuring economic security should be on the top priority of any policy regarding elderly people’s life sastifaction.
