- 本研究主要探討三個與警察父職相關的問題：1探究刑警與派出所警察的工作對於父職的影響。2警察在此工作環境下，如何建構其父職意涵？3他們又是如何實際扮演父親角色及實踐父職工作？
本研究採用質化研究之深度訪談法進行研究，共訪談10位從事外勤工作之刑警與派出所警察父親，主要研究結果摘述如下：
一、警察工作中的應酬、威權文化、懷疑主義及家事不外揚文化影響親職實踐。
二、因時間有限無法真正參與小孩照顧，僅能自我強化賺錢養家重要性與正當性，以滿足其內心愧疚與不安。他們內心渴望成為子女的朋友，以拉近彼此距離。
三、因時間限制與親子之間互動甚少，情感聯繫薄弱，最終形成「缺席的父親」。然而，他們嘗試在生活中找尋其他可能的活動，賦予其代表親職的重大含義，而「全家出遊」與「接送小孩」成為警察父親最喜愛的「親職特效藥」。
四、警察與一般父職並無太大差異，缺乏時間使他們代表一群無暇照顧家庭父親的縮影，顯露現代社會所產生出來的父職文化樣貌。
- This study aims to investigate the following issues: (1) What is the impact of police work on the fatherhood? (2) How do the police construct the meaning of fatherhood? and (3) How do they play the father role and practice fatherhood? To accomplish the goals, 10 qualitative interviews were conducted. The interviewees are the criminal investigation policemen and the officers in the local police station with children. The results are: (1) The culture of police have influence on their performance of fatherhood. (2) Due to the limited time, the police officers reinforce the importance of their role as breadwinners as compensation of their absence as father. They desire to be children’s friends in order to be close to them. (3) As an "absent father", they try to find some other substitutes for their fatherhood and assign to them significant implications on parenting. Therefore, “going on a family trip" and “picking up kids” has become “parenting remedy” of police fathers. (4) There is no obvious difference between policemen and others profession in fatherhood, whose work occupies too much time to take care of family.
