Biographical Sketch

Hui-Ju Kuo is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Sociology, Academia Sinica. Her primary research areas include sociology of food and agricultural systems, sustainability, environmental sociology, social demography, and quantitative and spatial methods including multivariate statistics, structural equation modeling, and spatial data analysis.

Her recent research activities consist of: (1) human dimensions of agroecosystem; (2) sustainability and spatial analysis; and (3) survey and sampling methodology in rural Taiwan. There are three themes that unite these various topics. First, she focuses on meso-scale units such as regions and counties, which are often the subject of rural sociological research. In addition, she specializes in applying quantitative methods to comprehend secondary data and to provide timely and relevant information on agricultural and rural life in Taiwan. Third, she focuses on demographic and socioeconomic dimensions of food and agricultural systems to understand how the drivers affect the agroecological differences that occur from the farm-scale to the community and to the region.
