Scholarship


1. Alumni Scholarships

The Alumni Association of the Department of Sociology has promulgated the following three scholarships for master's degree students:


1. Outstanding Master's Student Entrance Scholarship:

The eligibility for the award is based on the first place of the students who have been admitted to the master's program through interviews or the general entrance examination, and who are enrolled in the current academic year and do not have a full-time job. If the first place winner does not apply, the qualification will be applied to the third place winner in order. The amount of the award shall be NT$50,000.


2. Five-year program scholarship:


The eligibility for the award is for students who have qualified for the five year program of the department and are admitted to the department through the entrance examination of the master's program and are enrolled in the current academic year and do not have a full-time job. The principle is to recommend one student to receive a scholarship of NT$50,000.


3. Registration fee subsidy for master's admission examination:

Graduates of the department's undergraduate program who have been admitted to the ;department through the master's degree entrance examination and enrolled in the current academic year will be subsidized the full amount of the application fee for the entrance examination.

Applications should be submitted to the department within the application period announced . Only one of the above scholarships may be applied for, and no duplication is allowed.



The recipient of the scholarship should receive recognition at the departmental alumni meeting, assist in organizing the annual departmental alumni meeting, and participate in academic exchanges within the department.



2. Outstanding Academic Performance Scholarship


The scholarship is limited to the first and second year of the master's program. There are two types of scholarships: scholarships and bursaries. Scholarships are awarded to first and second year students who have demonstrated exceptional academic or research performance and who have taken at least two courses in the previous semester. Bursaries are subsidized and are not available to those who have full-time employment outside the university. Applicants must assist in the teaching, research, or administrative work of the department.



3. Participation in academic research awards


The purpose is to encourage students of this department to invest in academic research and actively publish academic research results. There are two types of award programs for masters program:


(1). Category B: Papers published in social science-related academic journals with an anonymous review system.

Those published in Category B foreign academic journals, will be rewarded with NT$8,000 for each paper .

Those published in Class B domestic academic journals will be rewarded with NT$6,000 for each paper.


(2). Category C: Papers published in academic seminars with open call for papers.

Those who publish in Category C foreign academic seminars will be awarded NT$4,000 for each paper.


Those who publish in Category C domestic academic seminars will be rewarded with NT$ 2,000 for each paper.




Each student can receive a maximum of two category C awards, and there's no limitation for category A and B. In case several students jointly publish the paper, the award amount will be divided equally. It is not allowed to apply for the same research result repeatedly; when the paper is published, it should be marked as a paper from a student of the school.




Applicants for category B grants can apply to the department at any time during his or her years at school or within three years after graduation, and the award amount for non-lead author and corresponding author will be halved. Applicants for category C scholarships are only allowed to apply to the department one week before the seminar during the semester.
