Master's Program Content and Course Requirements

Program Duration

The duration of the master's program in this department is one to four years. Students who have graduated from a junior college may not complete the program for less than two years.

Program Requirements

1. Graduate students must take 29 credits of courses plus 3 credits of thesis, for a total of 32 credits. No more than ten credits may be taken per semester. The minimum number of credits must not be less than three (starting from the second semester of the second year, the minimum number of credits may be waived).

2. The minimum number of credits may not exceed six for graduate students taking courses from other universities (departments).

3. The academic grade of a graduate student in the master's program shall be 70 out of 100. Students who fail to pass a required course should be required to retake it.

4. The following procedures should be completed before writing a thesis after admission to the master's program.

i. The supervising professor should be identified and the thesis topic selected by the end of the first year.

ii. The thesis plan/proposal should be approved for presentation no later than the fourth semester.

5. The master's degree examination for graduate students shall be held by oral examination and the application shall be made within the deadline specified by the school.



Study Program

In the first year of the master's program, the graduate student's advisor is responsible for course selection and related matters. After the supervising professor is identified, the second year will be supervised by the supervising professor. The courses are divided into two categories: "basic required subjects" and "elective subjects". The required subjects are “Sociological Theory,” Quantitative Data Analysis,” “Social Research Methods,” “Seminar on Social Studies,” and “Thesis(Projects). Details of the elective courses can be found in the course schedule on the department website. Applications for scholarships are made once per semester, and graduate students should fill out the relevant forms and submit them to the department office during the first week of each semester.
